Many people think that becoming healthier and changing their lives around means that they have to make huge changes. They have to completely change their diets or their lifestyles. Instead, making a few small changes over time can be a much better way of getting healthier.
You can start slowly changing your diet by phasing out how much soda, coffee, sugar, and other bad foods you consume. Replace them with healthier alternatives. For example, begin by only letting yourself have one soda with lunch and dinner, then make it a soda a day, and finally cut it down to a couple a week.
You also need to make sure you’re exercising and moving around. This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to go to the gym. Instead, make a few small changes. Instead of taking the elevator, take the stairs. If you do this a couple of times a day, you’ll already have increased the amount of physical activity you’ve been doing. You can also pace your office during your coffee break or eat lunch while standing up. Instead of talking on your cell phone while sitting, stand and walk around if you can. I may not seem like you’re doing very vigorous exercise, but it does all add up.
If you take the bus or other type of mass transportation to work, one way of getting a little extra exercise is to get off one stop early. This guarantees you’ll get a good extra amount of walking. It might be a little much to start with, but it’s not a bad idea.
