Should You Take Supplements?
A lot of people take supplements every day. These range from a standard daily multivitamin to things like zinc, magnesium, and melatonin. But do you really need to take these supplements? Do they have any true value, or are you just wasting your money.
If you have a deficiency, these supplements are absolutely necessary. For example, those who are anemic need to take an iron supplement on a regular basis. While iron deficiency may not seem like a big deal at first, if your iron levels become fairly low, you can start to feel tired all the time, have shortness of breath, get dizzy often, and find that your heartbeat has dramatically increased. All of these things can promote other health issues. If you have low levels of Vitamin D, you may actually be at higher risk for heart disease or high blood pressure.
Need more energy? Many people turn to caffeine for this, but the resulting crash can leave you more tired and out of it than you were before. Taking some supplements like a good Vitamin B complex can give you more natural energy. Vitamin B won’t cause a crash later on. All those energy drinks you see advertised on TV make use of very high amounts of Vitamin B.
While taking single vitamin or mineral supplements is great, it can lead to taking handfuls of pills every day. That can get old, especially since you’ll have to buy bottles of every supplement you want. Why not get all of that in one pill? No, not a daily multivitamin—while they’re great, they usually have fairly average or low levels of some supplements. Instead, you may also want to start taking an acai berry supplement. Research has shown that a supplement such as the acai berry may be able to provide you with a number of benefits.
