Horrible Health Choices
Many places approach personal healthcare from the angle of “what can you do to be healthier? What positive choices can you make?” But let’s take a look at this topic from the other side—what are some horrible health choices you could make but definitely should not? If you do any of the things below, you’ll find that your overall health suffers greatly and that you’re putting yourself at risk for many different diseases.
It might seem like putting on a few pounds isn’t that big of a deal, but if you become overweight, you’re leaving yourself open to diabetes, stroke, and much more. There are also the emotional and mental issues that can come with being overweight, such as a loss of self-esteem and the development of a negative body image.
It’s important, though, that you don’t become too obsessed with your weight and that you work with your doctor to determine what your ideal weight is. Some people’s bodies are naturally built bigger, and trying to drop a lot of weight by crash dieting will only make them unhealthy.
Sitting around all the time is definitely not a healthy choice! Studies have shown that the human body simply isn’t made for eight hours of desk work every day. If you sit at your desk or computer all day, make certain you get up and move around occasionally, and be sure you work in some exercise time at least once a week. Otherwise, you’re leaving yourself open for a lot of different health issues. Plus, exercise can be fun!
This one is obvious. Smoking can lead to a wide variety of issues, including lung cancer. Cigarettes have so many horrible chemicals in them that they not only affect you, but they also affect everyone around you. It’s no wonder that smoking has become banned in many businesses and restaurants.
Many people have taken to vaping or using electric cigarettes. These e-cigarettes are free from many of the chemical compounds that make smoking so dangerous, but there have been no long-term studies done on vaping to determine exactly how safe it is. If you have taken up this new trend, do so carefully.
Abusing Alcohol and Drugs
Like smoking, both of these things are obviously dangerous to your body. Drinking too much can damage your liver, while doing hard drugs can be incredibly dangerous. Both can impair your judgment and lead to you doing dangerous things you’d never do otherwise. If you’re doing to drink, do so responsibly—there’s nothing wrong with a celebratory glass of champagne or a glass of wine with dinner, but know when too much is too much. Always have a designated driver, too.
For those addicted to drugs, getting help can seem challenging. However, it can be done. There are many support groups and other resources out there for those who want to make a positive change in their lives.
You may also want to start taking an acai berry supplement. Research has shown that a supplement such as the acai berry may be able to provide you with a number of benefits.
