Healthy Eating – Desserts

Let’s finish off our look at healthy eating with the last part of any meal: the dessert. Now, there are many people who would say that if you’re trying to eat healthy, especially if you’re trying to lose weight, that you should skip dessert. That’s not a bad idea, but there’s no reason you can’t treat yourself every now and then. The key to being healthy with your dessert is to eat in moderation.

Fruit makes a good dessert. A small bowl of blueberries can be a great snack, but it can also be a way of ending your meal. Just make sure you’re not eating fruits that are really high in sugar. Avocado, blueberries, and blackberries are all good options. You may want to stay away from apples and oranges, though.

Another good food to have for dessert is a small amount of dark chocolate. While it does include sugar, it also includes a good amount of antioxidants, and those can be very good for you.

But what if it’s your birthday or some other major event? Do you need to sit there and watch as everyone else eats cake? Of course not. You can have a small piece, but you need to limit it to these special events. Eating sugary desserts every day is not going to keep you healthy, but by the same token, having cake on your birthday isn’t going to kill you. Plus, having these treats every now and then will actually help you keep your diet. Denying yourself everything is a sure way that you’ll eventually break down and binge on sweets.

You may also want to start taking an acai berry supplement. Research has shown that a supplement such as the acai berry may be able to provide you with a number of benefits.
