Health Trends

When you’re thinking about jumping on the latest health trend, you should take a moment to do a little bit of research about it. Is that diet really healthy for you? Do you really get everything your body needs to function while at the same time losing weight? What about that new supplement? How about buying foods that, according to the label, are incredibly healthy for you? You’d be surprised to learn that a lot of health trends you assume are going to be really good for you are actually anything but! Here are some health trends you definitely need to take the time to research because, surprisingly, they’re not that good.

No Sugar Added

No sugar added—that means the food must be sugar-free and really healthy, right? Wrong! The reason why so many businesses have added the “no sugar added” label to their packaging is because people often assume it means the food is going to be much healthier for them. If no sugar is added, technically it’s not a lie. Also, “sugar” doesn’t mean artificial sweetener. It’s usually only used to refer to real sugar, so something that has no sugar added to it may, in fact, have a lot of sugar substitutes added to it. These substitutes can be just as bad or even worse for you. Again, be sure you read the labels!

Vitamins and Supplements

You should definitely take the time to read the labels here. The fillers and other additives that are often added to supplements and other products can actually damage your body. They may cause a number of illnesses, make it harder to absorb vitamins, and more. Additives are also used to take the place of minerals and other ingredients in these supplements. Something that says it contains a specific vitamin may actually only contain a very small amount of it. As long as it meets the minimum amount, the rest can be worthless filler.

Diets

If you’ve tried to lose weight, you’ve probably searched for the best diet. You may have heard someone endorse a particular fad diet or trend. If you have, you’ve just heard someone spread one of the biggest lies about food: that one diet will help everyone, regardless of age, gender, level of exercise, etc., lose weight. It’s simply not true. There is no “best diet.” But why? And what can you do to lose weight?

Everyone’s body works a little bit differently. Genetics, environment, habit, body type, and much more all factor into how we digest food, which foods affect our bodies and in what way, and more. Some people can go on a low-carb diet and feel great, but for others, that type of diet may not really work. People who are really active, for example, need more carbs for the extra energy they’re using every day. For some other people, a vegetarian diet may be the best for them, but for others, that’s simply not enough protein.

It can be difficult to figure out what type of diet works best for you. That’s why a lot of people do try a number of different diets. They’ll try low-carb, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, Atkins…and in the end, they may reject all of them because they don’t quite work right. That’s because the type of diet they’re trying just doesn’t fit their body’s needs, or it’s not a good diet to start with.

You may also want to start taking an acai berry supplement. Research has shown that a supplement such as the acai berry may be able to provide you with a number of benefits.
