Exercise Errors That Are Crushing Your Immune System

Exercise Errors That Are Crushing Your Immune System

When most people think of ways to boost their immune system, they automatically start thinking about what they can do on the exercise front to get the job done.  And while most exercise will enhance your immune system function, the fact of the matter is that not all exercise is created equally.

If you’re doing the wrong type of exercise or not structuring your program plan properly, you’ll actually do more harm than good.

Let’s go over a few of the top exercise errors that are definitely cutting into the results that you may be seeing with trying to boost your immune system strength.

Exercise Overload

The very first thing that you’re going to need to watch out for is doing too much exercise overall. This is a big problem that some people get into and it will definitely take away from the progress they see.

Remember that while exercise is healthy, it itself is a stressor on your immune system so if you’re doing too much, it’ll be more than your body can handle and that will cause major problems to occur on the recovery front.

Make sure you keep at least a few days off in the program plan to avoid this from happening.

Too Much Cardio Training

Next, also beware of too much cardio training at the expense of a good resistance training protocol. Resistance training is the key form of exercise that will help to strengthen the body and all the muscles, so it’s one that must be included into your approach.

Long duration cardio training – ‘steady state cardio’ isn’t all that effective for fat loss anyway and if anything, it’ll just wear down your immune system.

Avoid this one at all costs.

Insufficient Stress Reducing Exercise

Finally, the last exercise mistake that you may be making is not doing enough stress busting exercises such as yoga, meditation, or any other relaxation oriented form of activity.

These are going to be very important to help you maintain better balance in your workout protocol, helping you avoid overtraining as we just mentioned and helping to ease the stressors of day to day life as well.

Remember that stress in itself will take a toll on the body so if your exercise program can help combat this, it’s really doing double duty.

While intense exercise does tend to help banish stress as well as it will release positive feel good endorphins in the body, you need to have that balance in your program. That will be key to helping you stay well.

So there you have the most important factors to keep in mind and remember at all times. Design a workout program that contains three full body strength workouts per week, one to two cardio sessions of a higher intensity and then one to two relaxation oriented sessions per week and you’ll be all set.
