ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia)

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia, also known as ALL, is an acute form of leukemia that affects both children and adults. Usually, the condition is characterized by an excessive immature while blood cell, called lymphoblast, production of your body. You could just imagine how your cells would  overcrowd your bone marrow that prevents it from producing the normal WBC.

Another sad thing about acute lymphoblastic leukemia is that it can spread out in your body and circulate to various part of it. Because they are immature, they don’t work well to protect your body from diseases. They cannot perform their role so you will be susceptible to  acquiring a wide range of diseases. When this happens, you may be susceptible to developing anemia and easily have bruising and bleeding.

Who Gets Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia?

Based from researches and studies, those who get ALL are those in the age 0-14 bracket. Children, without even saying, get the most number of ALL cases, close to about 60 percent. Usually, it is called childhood leukemia among them, but adults, ALL seem to be for men other than for women.

What Causes Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia?

The causes are still unknown up to this point but there have been claims that these cases resulted from the mutation in one or two of human genes that take control of someone’s cell development. Although research is still in the works, scientists have associated some people to be more susceptible than others. Check out your risk factors:

High chemical exposure that includes that from benzene that comes from detergents, pesticides and other products. ALL affects the industrial sector worker using such chemicals, so if you are, then you should evaluate your risk.

Certain body infections can also lead to ALL such as the Fanconi's Anemia and Down’s Syndrome.

High doses of radiation that include those coming from a nuke accident or radiation therapy for other cancers
